A great place to catch a show. From music, to art, too community theater.
We attended the Phantom of the Mathews House Opera and loved it. Performance was awesome and the performers did a great job of encouraging the audience to get into it and participate. It was cool how they incorporated the local culture and geography into it as well.
The Matthews Opera House, besides being A BEAUTIFULLY restored jewel-box theatre, is there cultural hub of Spearfish. They provide an art gallery, plays (both professional and community), love music, lectures... It's a gorgeous venue, and you would miss out if you didn't visit.
Very nice show. It would have been helpful, though, if someone could have introduced the show, giving a rundown of the premise of the show, and to explain that the audience needs to be part of the show. We were with friends who didn't get it for quite awhile. I think you could have had more audience participation.
